I Dare to Believe – Do You?
I have to admit, it was with a very heavy heart that I sent out the prayer requests Saturday night. It is so much easier to talk about things that are going well. It’s so much easier to talk about success stories – kids that are getting healthy, laws that are improving for the kids. The stuff we are wrestling with right now is not nearly as enjoyable.
I was reading for my personal devotions this morning and came to Psalm 10:14. In it, I believe that David is talking directly to God about the orphans in Haiti. Here’s what it says in the Message:
14 But you know all about it-the contempt, the abuse. I dare to believe that the luckless will get lucky someday in you. You won’t let them down: orphans won’t be orphans forever.
Think about that for a minute……
- “You know all about it.” God knows all about the ways that the children in Haiti are being harmed. Why does He allow it? That’s a question that I’m not going to wrestle with today.
- “You won’t let them down” – God is there and will always be there for the children in Haiti who can be quite easily referred to as the luckless. Sometimes His plan is not for them to remain with us on this earth but to enter into life in Our Father’s House where they will suffer no more.
- “Orphans won’t be orphans forever.” No matter what the Haitian government decides, no matter what the Hague Convention dictates, the orphans will not be orphans forever. God has a plan for all of His children. and that plan includes
I dare to believe – do you? Will you pray for these children with us? Will you help us?

I was reading and praying about Haiti last night and this morning, with a heavy heart as well. Then I was working on my Bible study for this week and was reminded of some verses in Exodus 14: 13, 14. “Do not be afraid. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. . . The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” Praying these verses for the precious little ones in Haiti.

Thanks, Tom. In a time where I am completely losing hope for myself, and also questioning how God can possibly let all these children (and not just the ones in Haiti – in all the world!) be left to a life in the streets, as a slave, starving with their families, or in an institution, this was much needed. It appears that I will not be able to adopt, but I keep praying that these children will not be forgotten by Him.

((((TOM)))))))
Thanks for posting this and what you posted on Saturday.
I too am concerned about what is happening and what could happen to Haiti’s children and am praying hard that God’s best will be done by the government.
With that in mind I have started a new blog called PRAYING 4 THE CHILDREN OF HAITI (www.praying4childrenofhaiti.wordpress.com)
My mission for this blog is for it to be a one stop place where prayer warriors can go to get prayer requests from organizations like GLA .
I will be posting any requests you post via the blogs and am open to posting any other requests you might want to send me off blog!
Thanks for your continued work on behalf of the kids at GLA and all the kids of Haiti!
