An Update on Frantina
Tom here – no I don’t have any additional information on Frantina’s medical condition but I wanted to let you know of a couple of “updates” to the overall situation:
- It’s a national holiday in the Dominican Republic so the hospitals are closed today (well, the doctor’s offices).
- If the diagnosis is what it’s looking like, it appears that Frantina is going to be spending a number of weeks (at least six to eight) in Santo Domingo. Because of that and because none of our staff can afford to be gone from their responsibilities at GLA for that length of time, we’re looking into doing some “shuffling” of people (creating additional costs too).
Between the need for an extended stay in the DR and what it appears will be more tests and procedures, I’ve changed the “chip in” from $2400 to $4,000. That is not an accurate number yet, but more of an indication that we know it’s going to cost more than the $2400 we originally estimated.
Any time that we know anything more in terms of details that we can share, we most certainly will. In the mean time, anything you can do to help cover the costs would be greatly appreciated.
If any of the funds aren’t needed for Frantina, they will be held in the medical expense fund and used for the medical needs of our children.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Tom,
I am a Certified Nursing Aide here in Colorado and I would be willing to spend my three weeks down there April helping with Frantina if Dixie wants me to…I also know some Spanish from growing up in Miami
The exact dates of my trip are April 9-30th.
Could you share that information with Dixie?
Thanks
Loving God, Loving Haiti, Loving Frantina!
