Opportunity in Alberta
The desire that people have across Canada and the US to help Haiti after the earthquake is phenomenal. Here is yet another story of how an Alberta couple, Christal and Vince Holland, acted on their desire to help. If you read this and you are near Kitscoty, Alberta (see map), you might just want to be a part of this!
As soon as the devastating earthquake hit in Haiti, we knew we wanted to do something. We were familiar with GLA, as we had viewed their website only weeks before the quake hit, wanting to look at adoption.
My husband and myself run the Canadian Distribution office for Salt City Candle Company, which is out of the U.S. We have a large warehouse with extra space, so we decided to start collecting the items that we knew GLA and surrounding area were in need of. The response has been tremendous.
We will be collecting tents, tarps, bedding, clothing, first aid/medical supplies, canned goods, tools etc. until March 15th at our warehouse on Main Street, Kitscoty, Alberta, Canada.
We were able to find a local trucking company who is willing to donate the space for our pallets and they should be at Colorado Springs by the end of the month.
With the winter olympics happening in our country, the recent earthquake in Chile and health reform in the U.S., we’re afraid that Haiti is becoming forgotten.
We’re determined to keep the efforts of GLA in the minds of those we come in contact with daily and will continue to be a "collections location" for the US office, in our little corner of Canada.
All donations can be dropped off at the Candle Crazy Giftshop (Salt City Candle Co.) on Main Street, Kitscoty.
Or, you can ship/mail them to
