Hands for Haiti-Oregon
If you find yourself near Roseburg, Oregon (see map below), or along the west coast, and have been wanting a hands on way to help Haiti, here is your chance! Please read on to find out what the Long family is doing and how you can be a part of it!
Friends,
I hope this letter finds everyone doing well. Our weather here in Oregon is starting to turn from winter to spring, with some sunnier days, the fields are starting to turn green, & my kids want to be outside to play. It is so sad that this is not what the people of Haiti are looking at. They are just going into the winter season there, with rain and no home to go to, no blanket to stay warm with, & little to no belongings left. What they do have is now getting wet and will soon be no good.
Micah, I & the kids have teamed up with Jeff Wikstrom & his family owned business, Overhead Door Co. of Roseburg to collect some much needed supplies for Haiti. The supplies will be going to an orphanage in Haiti called God’s Littlest Angels. We will be collecting supplies into mid-March, and then our family will be taking them to the Colorado based office to ship to Haiti. But wouldn’t it be great if we could do twice that amount & fill a 40′ cargo container. That means we really need your help. If you’d like to get your church involved, co-workers, or just friends please feel free to do this. We can pick up larger quantities of items if you have them. Spread the word- this is for all over, not just Roseburg, all over the west coast.
Let’s show them we care. There are several ways you can do this:
- prayer
- financial donations
- volunteer your time
- donate the much needed supplies (needs are specific, so please contact us for a detailed list)
- spread the word; e-mail this to everyone on your contact list
You can send, or drop off your donated items *Monday-Friday 8-5 at:
Overhead Door Co. of Roseburg
1045 NE Alder
Roseburg, OR 97470
Many of the supplies that we collect will go to help the community around God’s Littlest Angels. A 6 person tent is enough for a family to call home but the problem is they don’t have the stores or funds to get one. That means that families will be sleeping in the rain. I know what it costs for our family to eat at a restaurant and 1 meal could buy someone a home, a couple mochas at the drive-thru could buy them lighting, that fountain drink, snack and movie rental could buy them a blanket, and a drive-thru on lunch break could be enough to buy several meals for their family. If everyone would make these basic sacrifices (what we are asking is nothing compared to the sacrifices Jesus made for us) you can start making a difference in someone’s life. Not only do we thank you but the people of Haiti thank you.
God Bless
Micah & Patience Long & Kidz
