I have some sad news.  Little Valentina did not survive.   She died about  4:30 AM this morning.  I want to thank all of the people that prayed for me and my back problems.  I slept well until the nurses got me up at 4:20 AM!  I think Valentina was just too sick and malnourished.  Her little body just could not rebound even with IV fluid and Tube feedings.  Now she is now in the arms of God…

DSC00596 We received 28 children from BRESMA orphanage this afternoon.  They will be here approximately 3 months until their orphanage can be fixed and they can return.  The children range in age from babies to 10 years old.  Some of the children are going to French families and as soon as their paperwork is finished, they will leave us.  We will receive 3 more children from the orphanage tomorrow and there are 3 other children in the hospital that will come after they are better.

Margarette St. Fleur  is the director of BRESMA and I have known her for a long time.  Her children have been sleeping outside since the earthquake in January.  I have had to send staff home because we have very few children.  Now we can call some of our staff back to work and the children will be in warm, dry beds and can attend school too!  We are very happy to have them here with us!

Our Cross of Glory team was able to take the bags that they sorted yesterday and travel to Kenscoff to meet with the Mayor and hand out relief supplies to 50 families that had lost their homes.  It was a great experience even if it was sad to see the families without anything and sleeping outside.  There are about 55 more families in that same area that did not receive any supplies from us and so we will try to go back and help again as soon as we can get more supplies sorted and ready to hand out.  The Mayor had everyone walk throughout the mountain area to see the houses that had fallen down or been damaged due to the earthquake.  The team put together one of the tents and it too them 30 minutes, so I really hope the people were watching well how to put it up!

This is the first time the people in this area has received help of any kind.  They were very grateful and stood in line to get their sack of supplies and tents.  We will continue to work with the Mayor of Kenscoff to get supplies out to the people that need them so desperately!

I need American volunteers to call Diaper Services in your State and ask them if they would donate some used (but clean!) cloth diapers for us to give away to mothers with infants.  I would like to put some on a container to Haiti to hand out.  You can send them to our Colorado Office.  I will also take new cloth diapers if someone wants to donate them!

Want to make a difference for the kids in Haiti? Consider donating.
