Opportunity to Help – A couple of specific needs….

Tom here, it’s been a couple of days since I’ve written anything on here.   Why?   Because I’ve been busy coordinating the details of a tetanus vaccine shipment that is literally in process as we speak.   The good news is that the tetanus vaccines will be in Haiti by the end of the day on Thursday!    But, I’ll tell you that story some time soon.

Now there are a couple of things that have come up that we need help with:

Container Packing Day is this week Friday, February 12 at our new facilities in Colorado Springs.   The address is: 2275 D Waynoka Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80915.   At this point, there are 30 people who have volunteered to show up and help.

So how can you help?   You’re probably like me and live too far away from there to drive over and help.  Well, here’s an idea:

Help buy them lunch!   That’s right, we need to provide 30 hard working container loading friends of GLA with lunch on Friday.    They are going to be literally doing all of the heavy lifting as we fill 2 containers (40 ft containers) with donated items.

So what would I like?  I’d love it if a number of you could go to the “chip in” on the right side of this blog and make a donation toward the cost of buying them lunch and  and then e-mail me and let me know that you’ve done it.

I’d like to, by tomorrow morning, be able to have enough funds “set aside” in the earthquake fund to feed 30 volunteers doughnuts in the morning and pizza and chips and drinks at lunch.    How much do I figure that would cost?   Maybe $250 to $300?

Can you help me send a thank you to the volunteers who are doing the manual labor and let’s cover this for them!

Computer Help – I’d like to make a few adjustments to this blog and I could use some help “tweaking” a few things on the blog.   I need someone who is very familiar with WordPress, web design, HTML and “the like.”   It’s not a huge project (at least I don’t think so).   I’d estimate at most a couple of hours for someone who really knows what they are doing.   E-mail me at tvanderwell@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in helping with it and a brief (2 sentences) overview of your qualifications to actually do the job.    Thanks!

Advance Notice – We are starting to work on planning for some of the eventual needs that we anticipate coming down the road as things evolve and change in the ongoing effort to help Haiti rebuild.    Stay tuned for more details as they evolve.
